Changing of the Seasons
By Douglas King
We just came through
the Feast of Unleavened Bread during which time no leaven can be eaten and
the houses must be cleaned of all that is unleavened. Jesus’ words, “Beware
the Leaven of the Pharisees,” had nothing to do with food products but
rather the religious hypocrisy of those wishing to impose their particular
beliefs on the general population of the country. Their idea of
incorporating the law of God with the law of Rome was leaven to the soul of
both the individual and the whole of Israel. It is our belief that we are
living in just such a time.
It could well be said
that we should beware of the leaven of Islam and its desire to subjugate the
world to its particular way of political and religious incorporation. King
Solomon wrote that there is a time and a season for all things and as we
move from one prophetic day into the next, we see our known world collapsing
around us: the insecurities of that collapse causing “men’s hearts to fail
them for fear.” Many are crying out for the rocks and mountains – the
nations and governments both great and small – to hide them from the
approaching darkness of financial and political collapse. There is no quick
fix for the troubles that have befallen the nations. It is the time of
changing of the seasons. Political alliances are being made that 10 years
ago we would not have even dreamed would come about. In a false hope of not
offending those who would joyfully murder us in their religious fervor, the
American majority is frolicking down a path that will lead to a secondary
position among the nations.
Meanwhile, in the
Middle East, Iran is making giant strides toward nuclear power. Syria is
demanding that the Golan be returned to them. Egypt is refusing to stop the
smuggling of arms into Gaza. Iraq is still waiting for the US to leave so it
can get on with its religious civil war. Lebanon is becoming more and more
ruled by Hizbullah, who is part of the umbrella of terror. Al Queida is
being financed by so called “Peaceful Arab Nations” and supplied with arms
by Iran and Syria purchased from Russia and North Korea and smuggled into
Gaza to be used by Hamas against Israel. The so called “legitimate peace
partner”, the PLO and PLA led by Abbas, are making eyes at the terrorists of
Hamas and wanting a coalition government to rule over Gaza and the
non-entity called Palestine. Thus giving the Israel-hating Hamas total
control over that part of Israel and bringing the weapons, supplied by the
afore mentioned, into close proximity of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. All of this
as the world sets in the seats of the ‘great coliseum’ clamoring for the
demise of the Jewish State.
The Scriptures declare
that judgment on the nations wishing to destroy Israel will be their
suffering the very end that they wish to inflict upon His people. They also
declare that those who stand with this people and bless them as they return
to their land will be blessed of their God, welcomed into His kingdom and
looked upon as sons of the God of Israel.
Looking upon the
horizon, we see a season of war rather than peace, the Sons of Light
fighting against the Sons of Darkness. Being here in Israel for an extended
time on a yearly basis, we are able to see and feel the winds of change that
are sweeping over this country. We have been asked by many, “What time is it
on God’s timetable?” Our reply is, it is the time of reaping, not the time
of sowing – the time when the Master of the house is dividing wheat from
tares, goats from sheep – the time in which Jerusalem has become the
“stumbling block” to the nations (Zech. 12:3). While the world insists that
Israel open its borders, tear down the security fence, and open the check
points making it ever easier for the terrorists to accomplish their
murderous deeds, not a day goes by that there are not rockets and mortars
landing somewhere inside Israel. Individual terrorist attacks and religious
fanatics bent on suicide are on the increase. My prayer for Israel at this
time is not for an unconditional peace but rather that the Almighty will
give them the strength to stand against the pressures that an ungodly world
is subjecting them to and claim their rightful place among the nations.
It takes faith in God
and His Word to move from one season into another. By that same faith that
caused us to leave behind old self-filled life styles and put our lives in
the hands of a just and loving God, we will be delivered from the mistakes
of yesterday’s darkness and He will bring us into the light of a new day, a
new time and a new season. Only that kind of faith and confidence will bring
us through the present darkness and allow us to see the glorious rising of
the Day Star that will bring the Light of God to all the world. “To the Jew
first and also to the Gentile.” - |
