The Name

The Name of the Lord, what is it, how is it pronounced? We are not to mention it, repeatedly in everyday  language.

“Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes His Name in vain” (Exodus 20:7).

The Disciples’ Prayer: “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name” (Matt. 6:9).

Intriguing Mystery

So many take the Name of God (that we know and use) so lightly, and it is used in every vulgar way in cursing and defaming – not Hallowing. Is this not one reason why we are not given the pronunciation of THAT NAME? Since the pronunciation of that Name is kept secret until the Lord returns (Rev. 19:12&13), why do we make such a fuss over trying to pronounce it, and try to make everyone else to “say it right”, even when we don’t know ourselves if it is THE RIGHT WAY? This is the intriguing mystery of the ages, something that is to be told to mankind when He returns.

Until then, isn’t just “Abba, Father” good enough? Abba is a term of endearment and LOVE. Even Jesus said this to his disciples: “By THIS shall all men know that you are MY disciples IF YOU HAVE LOVE one to another” (John 13:35). First LOVE, then the message He gives for proclamation, then the right pronunciation will be given to the world later and then His Name will be “Hallowed” as never before. But now, we are to be known by our love of the Father, and doing His will, spreading the Good Word of His Gospel, so that all men may come to Him in repentance.

Do we really show the Love of the Father to each other? Practice LOVE, real love to each other? and especially in our families? Can the world really say that we are different than the pride-infatuated multitude? Love should be seen by everyone to be a testimony to the world. We should be peculiar in that love abounds among us.

Let our eyes be opened to the Scripture, for we will begin to see and experience the ongoing presence of holy fire that comes when we abide in Him (John 15:3,4). Let us be the witness the God of Israel wants us all to be. “I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown when there was no strange god among you: therefore you are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God” (Isa. 43:12). Today: “…You shall be witnesses unto me … unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

God is Love! In the essence of that love, let us truly LOVE. Only then will we be the witness for Him that He wants us to be – until He (Messiah) comes in great power and glory. Shalom! Shalom! -
