How the Bible Sees Israel “A land which the LORD thy God cares for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year” (Deut. 11:12). “...he that touches you [Zion – verse 7] touches the apple [most sensitive area] of his [God’s] eye” (Zech. 2:8, See Deut. 32:8-12). Solomon’s prayer: “...that thine eyes may be . . . toward the place of which thou hast said, My Name shall be there . . . .” Jerusalem (I Kgs. 8:28). Regarding the return: “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts” (Zech. 8:6) “The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge” (Prov. 22:12). “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth” (II Chron. 16:9; Zech. 4:10). Though nothing is hid from His eyes, this is the difference: God’s eye is over all, He sees all nations, but His people Israel is the apple of His eye! Why? Because through them has come His Word. Evil kingdoms will disappear, but “In thee [Abraham’s seed] shall all nations be blessed” (Gen. 12:3). “Behold, the eyes of the LORD GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house or Jacob, saith the LORD” (Amos 9:8). “Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them who hope in his mercy” (Psalm 33:18). “...He that formed the eye, shall he not see?” (Psalm 94:9). “...His eye sees every precious thing” (Job 28:10). “...I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psalm 32:8). -
